It would be extremely useful to be able to sort bookmarks by date added, rather than only alphabetically. I’ve seen a handful of requests for this simple feature, and none of the proposed extensions actually do this.
Additionally, I can’t imagine this would be difficult to implement whatsoever. This feature already exists in Chrome, and the relevant data is already in the Brave Browser’s JSON files, under /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default/Bookmarks. In fact, I wrote a script that reads this JSON file and writes my bookmarks to an HTML file, along with the date added.

I like the feature request.
I’d just like to note that technically, when you add bookmarks, new bookmarks are added to the bottom on the list, so technically they’re sorted by date added.
But being able to choose to sort by name or data added would be nice.
Also, there might be an extension to add this functionality.
Tbh, it is so easy to sort them by hand, grab and pull em up or drag em down. But sure it is not so hard to implement a second panel into the bookmark manager. It would be nice.
I asked this question last November. Someone gave me this reply:
“Not natively, that I can see. However, there are extensions in the chrome web store that offer this functionality.
Sprucemarks is one.
Recent Bookmarks is another.”
So I downloaded the Sprucemarks ext and installed it. It is written by Kai Nightmode and requires a Patreon membership and he requires a one-time fee of $7 for it. The process is a little complicated but Kai explains it thoroughly and sends every new person a follow up email to see if they need additional help.
I don’t know about Recent Bookmarks - if it’s free, maybe try it first?
Yeah, why Brave doesn’t have this feature despite repeated requests from users seems a bit lackadaisical on their part.
I just installed Bookmarks by Date but it doesn’t seem to work. The person above who says it’s easy to do by hand doesn’t have hundreds of BM’s like I do. I sorted them by name and cannot go back to date. I hate having to scroll down to the bottom to find latest BM added, but now it’s sorted by name they are all pretty much useless.
Either I’m going to stop using BM’s for certain archiving things and create my own html pages, or will have to (reluctantly) switch Browsers.
I agree with those above: Brave should really fix this and have options to sort by name, date ascending, date descending. Not hard to do. Really a pain when not available.
Workaround: Import everything into Chromium (or Vivaldi, Chrome, Firefox etc.), sort it the way you like, then re-import back into Brave. Tedious but would do the trick. Perhaps.
can someone from brave development team come and explain why this “feature” has not been implemented yet. date added and/or last modified sort is like a 101 type of intuitive feature.
edit: In the meantime I found a plugin that appears to do this: SpruceMarks
Apparently this STILL isn’t addressed. And agree - I just ‘sorted by date’ and now everything is lost in a deep sea, and there’s no way to at least ‘unsort!?!’
