Slowdown while Brave wants me to update?

I have significant slowness of any site or even anything from the Brave browser menu being loaded, and it began when Brave announced that it wants to do an update and that I will need to upgrade to Windows 10+.

Is this very temporary?

My O.S. is Windows 7 Pro and I am not willing to spend the money to upgrade.

I found this in About Brave, so I assume it’s the Brave edition I’m running now:
Version 1.46.144 Chromium: 108.0.5359.128 (Official Build) (64-bit)
