When we use the Brave sidebar, it opens the link in the current tab, which is very problematic. For that, we have to first create a new tab and then click the link, which is not a suitable workflow.
So, Brave developers, please address this issue. The pinned tab functionality is also affected, which hampers our productivity.
If you could develop a side panel window for the sidebar, it would be a cherry on top.
Totally agree. Its frustrating that I can’t even set to all bookmarks open in new tabs. Sidebar must have separate panel, as in firefox or edge. Otherwise it’s useless - simple bar to put bookmarks - the same as bookmark bar at top.

Since the Leo, Bookmarks and Reading List buttons each open a page in the sidebar itself (even if you middle-click them), I would expect other buttons placed there to open content in the sidebar rather than in the main part of the tab, but definitely not in a new tab.
