Yes This feature must be added and is necessary and all browsers open bookmarks in new tabs so that our current tab doesn’t gets discarded I don’t know Why Brave isn’t doing that…
It is simple. Just use this and after sometime it will be automatic. I use it everytime.

But it requires manual effort every time and it’s not fully automatic…

Don’t discard bookmark tab when opening bookmarks with double clicking.
It’s fixed.
