Shield/adblock is having problems on desktop

I have a problem: videos stop as soon as they start playing, then keep loading and show an error message saying, “An error has occurred. Please refresh the page or try again later. More information.” They should fix the ad blocker or whatever is causing this issue. Also, it’s hard to open videos because I have to reload the page a second time for them to play.

Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, to include:

  • Brave Browser version numbers
  • Operating System version numbers

Go to brave://settings/clearBrowserData Advanced tab

Time range: All time

ENABLE:

  • Browsing history
  • Download hsitory
  • Cookies and other site data
  • Cached images and files

And Clear data

Exit / Quit BB. Start BB. Test.

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN

Helps some users, re website of interest:

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to brave://settings/content/javascript

Scroll down that javascript settings page to Allowed to use javascript

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]website-of-interest.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only

Click the Add button

You would substitute your actual website domain of interest, in place of website-of-interest.com - EXAMPLE:

  • Enter [*.]brave.com as the site

Slight chance, maybe:

TEST: Toggle (Enable / Disable) Graphics Acceleration

TEST: Extensions - test individually, no combinations
