FYI, issue is not happening on Brave Beta so far
I have the same problem happening randomly on YouTube , please fix it. It started right after the latest update.
Brave 1.75.175, Chromium 133.0.6943.54
Android 12; Build/SKQ1.211019.001 on MIUI 14 Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s.

I’ve informed the Android team of this issue and they are taking a look and seeing if they can reproduce the issue. Hope to have more information soon.
In the meantime, can anyone here encountering this issue please try downloading the Beta build of the browser from the app store as @Stuart.kay did and test to see whether or not the issue occurs there as well?

When I watch YouTube videos, my screen turns black to inactivity. This was not the case before the update.

It seems others have tried YouTube and the same issue happens, so I tried Brave Beta (The blue lion logo one) and I didn’t get that issue for me.
The device I’m on is TECNO CK8n,
HiOS version 14.0.0 based on Android,
Android verison 14,
CPU Dimensity 8050.
And the bug in the normal Brave Brower latest version sometimes disappear like the app works fine then again it starts to happen…

For those experiencing, can you please confirm whether or not you have also experienced this behavior is Chrome as well? Or only in Brave?

Hi all, if you disable Adaptive Dimming in Settings > Display, does the issue persist, or does that resolve it for you?

Issue: Screen locks while watching videos.
App ver: Brave 1.75.175, Chromium 133.0.6943.54
OS: Android 15; Build/AP3A.240905.015.A1_IN
Device: iQOO 12 (Global/Funtouch OS 15)
Troubleshooting:
- Unable to keep screen alive while playing videos.
Youtube in brave- Turns Off
Youtube app- Stays On
Youtube in Chrome- Stays On - Tried changing automatic brightness to manual but still the screen turned off.
- Changed the screen timeout in phone Settings> Display and noticed-
a) 5 mins = Screen turns off after 5 mins of video play.
b) 15 seconds = Screen turns off after 15 seconds of video play.
c) Screen only turns off when you don’t touch the phone (display ofcourse).
Chrome app details:
App version: Chrome 133.0.6943.49
OS: Android 15; Build/AP3A.240905.015.A1_IN

Thank you @I_Am_Atomic! Does this happen every time or is it intermittent?
It’s happening everytime for me. I have tried restarting my phone which didn’t help so I kept the screen timeout to 10 minutes (max for my device). I keep tapping the screen every few minutes to keep it on.

Turning off the adaptive brightness did nothing for me but the screen time out settings can change for how long the screen stays on for Brave too (but before the update even if my screen time out was 15 sec or 2 min it would not dim and turn off it would stay awake when watching any videos on brave, also the issue on my end is not always happening… It comes and goes… Idk what’s causing the issue to happen or fixing it… It just happens randomly

In latest version 1.75.175 bars are not hidng automatically, a bug I guess, also when I watch YouTube video most of the times phone locks itself you know when we don’t use phone and after 30 seconds ut gets lock, so I guess an annoying bug is doing this.

Also please make a support email or something, I sent a DM to Brave and brave support on X around 2-3 days ago, no response so far,

Disabling the adaptive dimming did not helped. This afternoon I had no problem, but now it locks the screen after a minute. And that reminded me EnderVoice’s comment where he said there wasn’t a problem in the morning. I wonder if it is about the time of the day. I am gonna try the Beta build.
Edit: Checked up Google Play page of the Nightly build, someone was complaining about the screen going off while watching a video; so I have installed the Beta build, opened up a Youtube video, it was working fine. Then I closed the Beta build and opened regular version again, opened up a Youtube video, it was working fine. I don’t get what causes it to not work as intended.

Hi @steeven i use manual brightness so doesnt affect it
Beta is working fine, it also seems like now the normal browser is working, so not sure if downloading beta has removed the issue oddly? Will report back if it happens again
