Same issue for another Android device:

Screen turning off while watching videos on Brave... After the new update the screen turns off when watching a video on Brave.. I don't want to change my phone settings I want this issue to be fixed within the app - #66 by brakheart

I could fix it by turning off and on again the background Playback. Until now it works finde again

Other Brave Browser (“BB”) users have had success by:

  • clearing cookies and cache
  • toggling (switching between enable/disable) Media/Playlist settings
  • toggling (switching between enable/disable) Graphics Acceleration [desktops, laptops]

Some BB users have found, that after making such settings changes, it is important to completely exit / quit BB . . . and then wait 30 seconds before starting up BB. (That tip was of particular importance in a post from 2023[?], that I stumbled onto yesterday.)

In general, sometimes, re “suddenly BB is in trouble, after the latest, or after a recent background, update” . . . somehow, some BB settings are upset.

And about that upset, BB users end up reporting roughly the same issue, but oddly, a variety of fixes.

Almost as if, the latest/recent update caused a memory registration shift - moving some settings a notch out of place.

I favor being prepared, by routinely making chronological backups of BB data. Back up the “BraveBrowser” folder or the “Brave-Browser” folder that you see in the Profile Path: ← scroll down to that, at:

  • brave://version/#Profile%20Path

But of course, maybe that finding and the fixes cannot be accomplished using a mobile device.
