Again, I only asked to rule out some issue with private browsing causing this. You just tested in Chrome in a normal tab I assume and it didn’t work, which points to a Chromium issue. I will ask the Android team about this and see if they have any suggestions.
You can launch a Private window by simply clicking Main Menu --> New private window — but again, to be clear, recording definitely will not work in private browsing.
If you long-press the Screen Recorder option, you should be brought to the Screenshots and Screen recording settings. What option is set as default under the Record Sound settings?
@Evan123 Holding it down takes me here instead, which looks nothing like your UI
I cannot even manipulate the audio settings here, only the video quality, ammount of FPSs, video duration limit, and file size limit.
The fact I cannot even see audio options here is beyond me…
@GabeSlayerA1 not sure if they’ll have much to add on this, especially since you have mentioned it’s an issue when using Chrome as well. This means it’s an upstream issue perhaps. But even more of a challenge is that they can’t seem to replicate the problem when they looked into themselves.
As you have mentioned, since you can’t even see that, I’m wondering if perhaps the screen recorder you’re using just doesn’t record sound. Or if you might not need to dive deeper into your screen recorder settings.
I should also note that other people have reported this in general on your device or other Motorola Android phones. For example:
@Saoiray Well, they said before that they’d contact Android team and they have never replied… Regarding the screen recording audio. It does capture it, just not when I’m using any browser, which I find incredibly weird.
If this is an Android thing then it’s the worst update they could’ve ever thought of… Seriously, it’s just idiotic. What’s the point of the screen record function then…?
I’m not sure if it’s Android or Motorola. But I do see various reports all around. I linked you to some for people reporting the problem on Motorola earlier. But now I’m also seeing these below:
I know they said they’d bring it up to the Android team and I agree that either of them should ideally have gotten back to you. That said, I also have to let you know that I’m not even with Brave but I’ll get tons of notifications.
And like looking at the stats for Brave Community here, they have over 300 posts made just today. That’s not counting everything on Reddit and other locations. Add in how they don’t tend to work on the weekends or American holidays and it’s a lot of things to try to keep track of.
Both support and dev teams at Brave are smaller than a lot of places. Often attention goes to the bigger problems or to whatever catches their eyes (like being tagged)
My guess is that they have been busy with a lot of issues and forgot about this.
@Saoiray I do appreciate going out of your way to reply. I even found some of the links you sent before I even made this post… None were helpful. They either had a different phone or a different OS version than mine.
I guess I just have to live with this phone for a while until I get myself a Samsung again, and hopefully one that allows screen recording audio on browsers…
I have honestly given up now.
Hello - Sorry for the delay. The team was able to reproduce on a Motorola in Brave stable, Beta, Nightly and Chrome. Unfortunately, it is an upstream Chromium issue.
