I seem to be having an issue with Brave Browser (version 1.75.175), specifically regarding the screen recording function on my phone. It seems to be working wonderfully at recording the video, but when it comes to audio, nothing can be heard in it. I’ve tried many things myself but I found no solution.
I am using a Motorola G54 with Android 13 (soon to be Android 14)
I even tried a 3rd party application called XRecorder and the issue persisted.
In fact, I previously owned a Samsung Galaxy S10E, with Android 12, and the screen recording function worked with both audio and video.
I have no idea how to solve this problem, please help.
EDIT: I decided to update my phone to Android 14 and the issue still persist. Every app works just fine, but Brave doesn’t capture any audio. It makes it impossible to record my screen with any audio when using this app.
I tried everything.
Three 3rd party screen recordings, granted all permisions to Brave, and nothing.
The time it’s taking me to find an answer is honestly adding to the frustration, because this was not an issue on my previous device, which uses Android 12.
What can I do? Please help.
Yes. It is actually selected. It’s one of the first things I’ve tried to do in order to solve the issue, but it’s still persisting.
I am using the Android 14 built-in screen recorder. I’ve tried other 3rd party screen recorders but there’s still the same issue.
It records everything fine but when I save the video it has no audio, even though I select “Record system audio” when I use it. It only happens with Brave.
Twitter, Instagram and the Youtube app work just fine, but Brave does not.
Permission granted:
-Microphone.
-Music and Audio.
Ask first:
-Photos and Videos.
No permission:
-Camera.
-Nearby devices.
-Notifications.
-Location.
This is really weird to me because this feature worked perfectly on my previous phone, which uses Android 12 and runs the exact same version of Brave as this phone now. And both devices have the same permissions enabled.
None of these options appear. It shows up this message that says:
"Want to start recording?
When you record content, Android can access everything that’s visible on the screen or played on the device. So be careful with passwords, payment details, messages, photos, audio and video."
The options to select the type of audio to record are only shown up in the screen recorder tool itself once it’s active. I can select microphone only, system sounds (basically, media), media and microphone or muted.
The media only option does not work on the Brave Browser, both normal or Beta
This is exactly what happens.
In this specific video, I start recordinh with the “Mic and System Sounds” option. The video’s audio is basically heard through the microphone.
Then, as soon as I switch to the “System Sounds” option, the audio just stops. I can still hear it while I’m recording, it’s just that afterwards, the video gets saved with no audio.
@GabeSlayerA1 I just tested this on my end on my Samsung Galaxy 22 running Android 14. Selecting Screen recording and then Media option worked for me as intended — both video and audio we recorded without issue.
I cannot think of any reason it would not be working for you in Brave specifically. You said this works for other apps but have you tried other browsers? If you open Chrome and attempt to use the screen recording tool does it work as intended?
Lastly, are you by chance trying to record while using private browsing?
@Mattches I actually haven’t tried it on Chrome… I’ll be doing that now.
About the private browsing, I didn’t even know that was an option that could influence in this.
@Mattches Okay, I just tried it on Chrome and it actually didn’t work either… This keeps getting weirder and weirder…
Regarding the Private Browsing option… Where do I go to manipulate it?
Hmm wonder if there is some Chromium issue — although I can’t reproduce it. What is the exact device you’re using at this time?
Also I asked about Private browsing because you’re not supposed to be able to record anything in Private browsing and I was wondering if there was some weird issue going on with that restriction.
@Mattches I am using a Motorola G54 5G, with Android 14 as its OS.
If you could tell me where to go to manipulate the Private Browsing option, it would be amazing because it seems that may be my last shot at making this work…
