Description of the issue: All my saved passwords and logins in the browser have disappeared. I didn’t manually perform any update, but the version is up to date. I’ve tried exporting the passwords to transfer them to another browser, but I wasn’t successful either.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open brave
settings
Autofill and Passwords
Previous saved passwords are gone
Actual Result: Previous saved passwords and login information disappeared.
Expected result: My passwords shouldn’t have disappeared, and I want to know how I can recover them.
Operating System and Brave Version:
Windows 11 fully updated
Versión 1.70.126 Chromium: 129.0.6668.100 (Build oficial) (64 bits)
Additional Information: In some community threads, I read several reports about the same issue in previous years, but none of them had a conclusion or solution
I can see the issue, but I disagree on the replication: I have not opened Brave as admin or changed my Windows password. In fact, the only change has been updating Brave to latest version.
I have exactly the same problem, all my passwords have disappeared. Nothing unusual was done (eg changing Windows credentials). The ONLY thing between it working and it not working was that I upgraded Brave (to Version 1.71.123 Chromium: 130.0.6723.116)
Unfortunately Daniel’s solution has not worked for me. I created a new profile and synced with the old one and the passwords are still missing.
I’ve found the Login Data file in the default profile under User Data\Default and it does appear to contain some encrypted passwords but I can’t access them. There is no .bak file, and I do not have this folder included in my backup drive.
Any more ideas? I’d really rather not have to reset hundreds of passwords.
