Hello
I’d like to report an issue with installing PWA’s with the Brave browser on Samsung DEX.
My phone (Galaxy S24 ultra, latest version of both, Android/OneUI and Brave installed) is connected to a monitor and running in DEX mode.
I go to youtube.com
click on “Menu”, then on “Install app”
the Youtube app icon should now appear on the DEX desktop
instead it appears on the phone’s home screen
My previous phone (Galaxy S22 ultra) with Android 13/OneUI 5.1 didn’t have this issue.
Also, other browsers, like Chrome or FF, are working correctly.
Please help. I don’t wanna go back to chrome

@Mattches just wanted to tag on this to see if you have any ideas. I know what jamie2ch describes would typically be what we would expect on Android, but guess there’s the variation on DEX mode.
Yeah so I don’t have any experience with Samsung DEX. I’ve reached out to the Android team for additional eyes on this. From what I’m reading, I would expect it to have the same behavior as Chrome does.
To clarify, you’re using the Install youtube...
button in the address bar?
Or, alternatively, going to Menu --> Save and Share --> Install Youtube...

So would i, but it doesn’t.

Is there someone who does?

### Description
At some point, PWA behavior between Chrome and Brave changed an… d they are no longer parity with one another. This is the case in a couple ways:
**Create Shortcut =/= Install as app**
![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/5b6c37a0-dbbf-408b-a1f8-2b8198ff186c)
I believe these options used to essentially do the same thing, however, Chrome now has both `Create shortcut` (which seems to create a shortcut on your [desktop] that points to the site) and `Install page as app` which installs the site as a PWA.
**Chrome supports more sites**
While Brave does support this option for _some_ sites but showing the `Install as app` icon in the address bar, Brave now supports far less sites than Chrome does with respect to PWAs, including popular/widely used ones like all the Google Services, as well as other sites one might expect support for (search engines like duckduckgo, Wikipedia, Steam, ChatGPT, Twitch, for example).
**Open as window**

While the `Open as window` option has been removed for both brave and Chrome — however, when a PWA is created and opened in Chrome, the site does in fact open in its own, separate window/instance. In Brave, the PWA just opens the site a new tab in the browser.

So I only have a Samsung S22 to test with, but on my end the app did get added to the home screen on DEX desktop.
Since you are only now seeing this with the newer model that is likely the cause but it’s not clear where the actual issue originates from. I’m also not seeing anything online outside of a few reddit posts regarding the S24 and adding apps to the home screen.
Still waiting for a response from Android team.
What Android version does it have?
The Android device I’m using is on Android 14 w/One UI 6.1
