Permanent background crash: trap invalid opcode

Debian/sid up-to-date
Brave 1.7.56 and 1.7.58 (at least) installed via apt-get
every few seconds something(?) crashes, the kernel log shows
[ 7968.269814] traps: brave[20281] trap invalid opcode ip:55bba2dd7ce5 sp:7ffff9627cc0 error:0 in brave[55bba1f27000+78e5000]
and brave connects to https://laptop-updates.brave.com/1/bc-crashes

This result in permanently high CPU load (50-90% on my laptop)

Just noting that according to the update on https://www.preining.info/blog/2020/03/brave-broken-on-debian/, this is apparently resolved.

Yes indeed, after several updates finally one that fixed it came in.
