No Printers available in Brave - Ubuntu Mate 20.04

I have just started using Brave yesterday - been using Chrome forever on Ubuntu Mate 20.04

i print a lot and have hit my first brick wall with Brave… i cant print.

when the print dialog comes up the destination shows “Save as PDF”. if i pull the list down the only other option is “see more”. if i do this it takes a moment to search but finds nothing other than “save as PDF”

if I click the ‘Manage’ button, it takes me to Brave settings with one single option for ‘printers’. clicking on this brings up Ubuntu Printers (system-config-printer), where it shows my Epson ET-4750. i cannot get it to appear in the Brave settings in order to use it.

is there any way i can get Brave to recognise my system printer(s)??

TIA

Are you using the Snap package or the official package repository (see instructions at https://brave.com/linux/)?

i used mate terminal to add repository and to install from command line

Ok so you’re using the official packages, and you’re saying that if you use Chrome on the same machine it sees your printer just fine?

i have just gone back into Chrome to check and yes, i can see my printer, plus save to PDF and save to google drive…

I’ve created an issue for your problem: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/13565

If you have any more details (e.g. version of Brave, etc.) please feel free to add them there.
