Printers Undetected (Print to PDF only)

Description of the issue:

For several months I have been unable to print. Whether using Ctrl-P, print-from-system-dialog, selecting a print icon-- whatever. The only option given is to print to a PDF. In settings, selecting “Printers” does nothing: it does not open any kind of sub-menu, but does flash to indicate a successful click.

Every other major browser can print. I often switch to a Chrome install to print, but Firefox works fine, too. I can print from desktop applications. Every program I use can see my printer except Brave Browser. This is driving me insane.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Attempt to print via keyboard shortcuts, selecting a print icon, or using the “print from system dialog” option within the standard print menu.

  2. Attempt to open the Printers settings menu to add printer by clicking “Printers.”

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

  1. Only given the option to Print From PDF.

  2. Settings menu flashes to confirm a button press, but does not open.

Expected result:

  1. Being able to print from my printer.

  2. Being able to open the Printer settings menu.

Reproduces how often:

I have not been able to print for months.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

OS: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Brave: Version 0.63.48 Chromium: 74.0.3729.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hardware: Thinkpad T430s
Printer: Brother HL-5470DW (Network Printer)

Additional Information:

I want to stress that every other application and web browser on my computer has no trouble detecting my printer and using it to print.
