check this thread i am facing the same issue, unable to change the default search engine or add any other search engine. I am using Opensuse Tumbleweed as os, previous i was using brave but i have not faced the same issue with brave.
brave version: Version 1.75.178 Chromium: 133.0.6943.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)
