Cursor disappears in “some” windows. Not all the time, but it appears to be with just certain websites.

I’m on Windows 11 23H2 (22631.4751)

Brave is Version 1.75.175 Chromium: 133.0.6943.54 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The same websites are not affected in the current version of chrome: 133.0.6943.59 (Official Build) (64-bit)

UPDATE 2025-02-09: I turned off hardware acceleration as suggested by someone else, and it fixed the problem for me.

UPDATE 2025-02-13: It appears the hardware acceleration only fixes it in some cases. It still disappears seemingly at random. When I encounter this problem, I have found 2 fixes. One is to start a fresh copy of Brave. Two is to switch to a different browser (Edge, Firefox, Chrome)

Same issue also noted in this thread:

I Facing The same problem. after the Brave Browser load the mouse pointer invisible for some time. how to fix that issue. ?

disabling hardware acceleration in settings fixes it

Same with me, since yesterday.
My hardware acceleration is off

Thanks all, this is an upstream Chromium issue. An issue has been filed here with additional info https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/43824, and a fix is expected soon.

Description of the issue: 2 issues:

  1. mouse cursor suddenly vanishes inside brave browser.
  2. the cursor pointer stays at the default one without changing to {link_select} pointer or any other pointer during interaction.

-for example: if i move the cursor toward a youtube video, the pointer stays the same as before. and if i move it toward the address bar, it doesn’t change to a {text select} pointer. And the same thing for the rest.

this is a new bug, it never happened until this week.

How can this issue be reproduced?

N/A

Expected result: Fix cursor issues during interaction.

I have also problem poor HTLM5 performance in online games and it is not exclusively on 1 site. With enabled V8 optimizer, GPU acceleration disabled.

I’m having the same problem. From what I’ve read, it’s a Chromium problem and it’s been reported. I’m waiting for it to be fixed.

Any link to the issue filed with chromium?

Same with me. And it is random - disappears as I move from one window to another. Sometimes turns into a double arrow. I can’t tell where the pointer is at times except when a button changes color. I will have to return to using Chrome browser if this is not fixed!

Then I don’t know validity yet, but I see Reddit post claiming it’s fixed in a Windows update.

https://www.reddit.com/r/brave_browser/comments/1in59mv/cursor_fix_for_windows_11_is_out/

For that latter, kind of curious if @Mattches may be able to confirm anything. I wouldn’t go clicking on links where people say to download directly, but there is an official update available. So just do that through the official updater and see if it resolves.

Worked perfectly for me in Windows 10. Mouse stopped glitching.

Actually to update by response. I missed update from Brave’s Github:

They just fixed it via https://issues.chromium.org/issues/394673040 so assuming we’ll see a fix tomorrow which means we’ll release it Thursday

  • I am also experiencing this issue.
  • I use brave browser on a Win 10 desktop PC.
  • Mouse started disappearing randomly within the last week. Maybe Feb 7th or 8th.
  • Issue normally starts after using my Plex media server to watch media.
  • I’m also noticing issues copying text from websites and even notepad. I’ll push my left mouse button and drag my cursor over the text I want to copy and some or all of the text will become un-highlighted during the process. This might be related. It might not.
  • I had to switch to the Chrome browser to complete the signup process of this community because my mouse pointer disappeared during the signup process.
  • Brave is up to date. Version 1.75.175 Chromium: 133.0.6943.54 (Official Build) (64-bit)
