Mouse Disappears while watching Youtube/Twitch

Description of the issue:

When i leave the mouse above a video/stream it disappears, this is normal but when i leave it above the video/stream and disappears and then ALT + TAB on another app and then ALT + TAB on Brave again the mouse starts to get buggy and disappears sometimes, more often on browser TABS, the issue is solved temporally by closing a couple of times the browser, any other browser works good and the issue started today after the february 7 update.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Leave the mouse above any video that makes the mouse disappear like in Youtube or Twitch
  2. wait for it to dissappear
  3. Alt TAB on another app and then Alt +Tab on Browser

Expected result:

the mouse starts disappearing and goes buggy

Brave Version( check About Brave):

1.75.175 Chromium: 133.0.6943.54
(https://brave.com/latest/)

Additional Information:

it started today after rebooting my pc, usually when i reboot my pc brave updates and yesterday ( February 7 2025 ) an update was upload.

We believe that this is a Chromium issue that was inherited as part of the Chromium bump during the last update:

Just wanted to say I’m having the same issue. I think we just need to wait until they fix it.

having the same issue

I’m having the same problem, it usually appears when I’m watching a video on Youtube or Twitch with Discord open (When discord is on the main screen and the browser behind).

When I move the mouse up to the url bar the cursor just disappears.

Hi.

I have exactly the same issue as described in the first post :

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Leave the mouse above any video that makes the mouse disappear like in Youtube or Twitch
  2. wait for it to dissappear
  3. Alt TAB on another app and then Alt +Tab on Browser

I couldn’t figure out exactly what caused the mouse to disappear until I repeated this manipulation. The bug appears almost every time

To make the mouse reappear, I have to do another alt-tab.

I read that the bug was reported on chromium.
I use Chrome occasionally, i don’t have the same bug.

Windows 10 and Brave Version 1.75.175

Just another report while waiting for a resolution to the problem, if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Same happening here.

As stated before this appears to be an upstream Chromium issue that many other users are seeing as well. We expect a fix for this to hit soon and we have a Github issue here:

Hi all, this was fixed in today’s release. When you have a moment please update to 1.75.178 Release Channel 1.75.178 - #2.

I’m Brave .178 and this is still constant, FWIW.

For me, the only “temporary fix” (aside from browser restart) is to force a UI focus change – with quit-confirm enabled (Brave > Settings > System), I ALT+Spacebar then C but don’t confirm / cancel (my cursor is invisible during all this), then ALT+TAB to any other UI or Windows (10.x) Explorer window, then tab back to Brave. Cursor magically reappears; I’m good till the next time it happens. I’ve typed with two other Brave .178 users also still seeing same. Cheers!

Interesting – unclear what is causing this for you at this point. Testing on my end, I do not see this issue. For me, the cursor disappears, I Alt + Tab to a different app, then Alt + Tab back and the cursor reappears as soon as I start moving the mouse again:

I’d be curious to know if you you see this same behavior in other browsers – ideally another Chromium based browser (Edge, Chrome, etc). Can you try testing the same behavior using a different browser and confirm whether or not the issue occurs there?

Additionally, if the issue does not occur in another browser, can you please try reproducing it in Brave using a Guest window (Menu --> More tools --> Guest window)? When you do this, please make sure you close you original profile window, so the only browser window you have open is the Brave Guest profile.

My brave browser update to 1.175.178.

I restart it.

No cursor issue for now.

The problem seems resolved for me.

Thanks Brave community, @Mattches and @steeven for responding.
