Description of the issue:
I have plenty of files need to be downloaded, there was something wrong, I force quit Brave. I turned out Brave created plenty of hidden files named “.com.brave.Browser.****”, these small files totally occupy 20 GB!!! And they are hidden. I finally used CleanMyMac found these hidden files.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Force quit Brave when downloading plenty of files.
Brave creates a lot of hidden files in the download folder.
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Expected result:
As shown and described above. Reproduces how often:
Not sure. Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
MacOS 11.1
Brave Version 1.19.88 Chromium: 88.0.4324.96 (Official Build) (arm64)
Additional Information:
It is annoying. At least try to unhide these files, then the users know these files and delete them. Otherwise they are hidden and occupy a lot of “OTHER” storage in Macos.
It was a website for converting file format. I uploaded files locally, the website then will convert these files with different extension and download them. There were many files, and I need to kept clicking “Enter” to confirm download. Sometimes, some files were corrupted. I needed to force quit Brave, and redo again. It seems Brave hides unfinished download files, it is the problem. Because for majority of users don’t know how to check hidden files in macOS. If Brave can act as safari (and Chrome too?) to keep the unfinished download files visible, then users know to delete them.
