Kaspersky [KTS19(d)] detecting Brave Installer as malware: PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic

Perhaps the gray shield plus the cross gray parts are showing a
misfunction of it
I don’t remember i have installed it and the extension appear at
install recognized as a chrome web soft ?

Pehaps ai has to uninstall it but how?

Hello Awaw,
Thanks so much for replying.
I had previously seen the K forum posts, however, they’re not relevant to this situation.
I’m a little confused, your image (Kaspersky ext in Brave browser), shows the Kaspersky extension installed, it looks (to me) as if it’s ok, green, no grey, if that’s correct, why would you uninstall it?
It’s a shame (for me) you don’t remember how it was installed in the Brave browser…

Re [Perhaps I has to uninstall it but how?]
Why not just disable the Kaspersky extension rather than remove it? That way, if you decide you do want the extension it will be there, waiting to be re-enabled…

If I’ve misunderstood [Perhaps I has to uninstall it but how?], I apologise and please let me know.

Thanks again.
Cheers.

A contrario, i think Kaspersky has automatically recognize a web crawler
(with chrome-ium inside)
so it has installed a chromium extension on Brave even if it does not
exist a specific one (following what Kaspersky has wriiten for you)

But the icon is in gray and not green like in firefox.

So even if some extension is installed, it is probably not working
but i don’t want to test it an a fraudulous site due to the risk …

Hi Awaw,
Thanks for replying.
Wow! I agree it’s not worth the risk testing.

If the extension is grey & you don’t know how it came to be in Brave I’d definitely disable it.
Your comments earlier re removing it [how?] - the image you posted has a [Remove] option, by selecting [Remove] it should be easy to uninstall/remove. No?
Please keep us posted, this issue has become more curious than I anticipated.
Cheers.

Hi Snafu_mig

I have choiced to remove it but i had the choice to only disable it

I am quite sure Kis was installing it automatically at the install
of new Brave
but le little shield remains in gray and was not green
so it was not working and the screen image after having push on it
was like the one you have seen on the 2 links i have forwarded.

Confusion between Chrome and Chromium? perhaps
but the extension was well contructed as in the chapter Extension of
Brave the text explaining… disable possibility… and so on were
well correct present.

I did not capture de extension page but now i did not have it more as
it was uninstalled.
Awaw

Hi Awaw,
Thanks for letting me know.
Good work, very good that it’s gone.
If it (he/she😃) comes back do please post here…
Maybe one day Kaspersky will distribute their extensions for all browsers…
One final question please Awaw, are you using Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Total Security?
Cheers.

Hi Awaw, I just re-read the entire post & can see you’re using KIS, no need to reply for that.
Thanks & cheers.

After a complete analysis by Kis this appear
saying the program is legitim but some individuals with bad intention could utilize it for doing attack and damags to your data

Hello Awaw,

Brave [tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0] is not the [Brave Installer as malware: PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic][extension] that has been discussed in this post.

It would be good if you wish to post your most recent post to [[KTS19] detecting [BraveSoftware][tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0]]

Re [[KTS19(d)] detecting Brave Installer as malware: PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic]
On the 26/12/8] Kaspersky approved & integrated the Brave Installer.

This post [[KTS19] detecting [BraveSoftware][tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0]] is the current Brave/Kaspersky [tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0] issue.
Note: Malawarebytes approved & intergrated [Brave][tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0] immediately after Brave Support escalated to them.
Kasperksy have not done that as yet.

The rationale used by Kaspersky re detecting either Brave object is identical - [legitimate software with the potential to be used by criminals] is identical for both objects.
Kaspersky’s management of both issues is where the problem is:

Whitelist one object.
Blacklist one object.

Still work in progress with Kaspersky.

If anyone from Brave Support or the Brave community can answer the outstanding question on [[KTS19] detecting [BraveSoftware][tor-0.3.4.9-win32-brave-0]] it would help enormously please?

Cheers.
