Brave Search got off to a great start. It’s kind of stalled since then. I want to love it, and I mostly do, but it needs more. Mainly, it needs better map integration and instant answers. Neeva has done a great job in these areas. In Neeva, searching “90 days from today” or “Vikings score” or other things, gets you well-formatted instant answers right up front. Brave Search needs to do this too. Likewise, if I search for an address in Neeva, I get a map I can open. Brave doesn’t show a map when an address is searched.
I’d like to see Apple Maps integration personally, I like that DuckDuckGo went that route. Especially if you live in relatively rural areas outside the US, OpenStreetMaps is terrible. Obviously Apple Maps isn’t quite as good as Google Maps, but it’s a lot better than OSM, and still very private and secure fromw hat I can tell.
Apple maps may be good compared to OSM but it is impossible to use apple maps outside of apple ecosystem. As apple prefers to keep its users in walled garden.
But, still brave should give options to either use OSM or apple maps (or even google maps) if the user wishes to do so.
With the recent announcement of Overture Maps, Brave should work to integrate Overture Maps into Brave Search when APIs are available
Yeah. Neeva uses Apple Maps too.
Brave Search uses OpenStreetMap instead, e.g. Los Angeles.
