Premium subscriber, to thank you for not being Google or Mozilla.
Here are some things I don’t like about the android app (Brave 1.75.181, Chromium 133.0.6943.141, Android 15 Build AP4A.250205.002):
- missing Bring-Your-Own-Model.. This feature has been available on desktop for more than 6 months and it was frustrating to see that missing from the mobile app, especially when I have a bunch of different models available on my local Ollama host
- not obvious how to turn off the rewards icon. A long press on it shows the “manage brave rewards” bubble, which I would have expected to allow me to turn off that icon, but no. That’s buried in settings.
- Multiple forms of bad UX with my Brave account on networks where there may be other ad-blocking.
- Sending the login email didn’t seem to indicate success or failure
- once I did get that email opening the link with brave gave me a blank window with a spinning triangle.
- no indication anywhere in the app that my subscriptions have been loaded.
- it would be nice to have a single settings menu for all the “brave-isms”; anything that’s different from regular chrome/chromium should be discoverable there.
I sent this as in-app feedback, but figured this might be worth discussion here too.
