When I try to import bookmarks and passwords, at step 3 when when you get to the
dropdown menu which should list the other browsers on my system, the only selection
I get is Boomark HTML File. It does not display Firefox or Chrome.
I obviously want to import all my bookmarks, but more importantly the passwords.
I have read many post, and have seen there is currently a FF issue, but all that I’ve come
across seems to be different in nature and not the same issue I’m experiencing.
Expected result:
Solution to fix.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Brave Version: 0.63.48 Chromium: 74.0.3729.108 (64 Bit)
Mozilla Firefox Quantum 69.0 (64 Bit)
Linux Mint Mate 19.2
Downloaded Brave via snap store, and ran snap refresh to make sure version is current.
@JeffK969,
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately – that is not the most recent version. At the time of writing this, the most up to date version of Brave (Release channel) is v0.68.132. Please note that snap and other software packages are not maintained by Brave and cannot be guaranteed that the version available on them is up to date.
Thanks Mattches,
Followed instructions and am now running 0.68.132 Chromium: 76.0.3809.132 (Official Build) (64-bit). The drop down shows my old chrome bookmarks, but still not the FF. Guess I have no choice but to wait and see what happens.
Thank You again.
@JeffK969,
Firefox doesn’t show up at all in the list of available browsers to import from? Is Firefox stored somewhere strange/different than where Chrome is/was installed?
Hello, that may very well be the case for Linux Mint MATE. Reason being, I have a 2nd PC that has Linux Mint XFCE. Went through all the steps to acquire latest versions and tried. XFCE showed Firefox in the drop down. With the exception of not importing the passwords (which seems in line with the community post that I read prior to submitting my question). So for that to work and MATE to not, I’d have to be agreement with your statement / assessment. I also tried the ‘sync’, too bad that also doesn’t exchange passwords. Will continue to look for a solution. Thanks
Thanks for that info, it will be very useful down the road. The issue I meant, and see many post in the community, is that Brave will not import passwords from Firefox into Brave at this time. Like most people, have quite a few stored passwords in FF, that I would like imported into Brave. Hopefully that feature will be available very soon. I read it’s being worked on.
@JeffK969,
Did you try using the Import bookmarks and settings option? People seem to have issues with the import feature in general – however, many other users (myself included) are able to import data from FF or other browsers without issue.
