I seem unable to get help with this from anyone? Issue with Brave browser on macOS laptop

Hi,

I am grateful to you for your time, as I have seeking assistance with this since April without any luck.

The issue…

My search results setting just below the search topic box on the Brave browser keeps setting to Brazil for search results, even though my account setting remains set at the country for which I seek results. When I search, I change the search results setting below the search box…but the next time I try, there it is again, changed to Brazil. I am currently in Brazil, but thought that the whole idea of being able to select search settings/parameters was to be able to select the country for which sought results. I do this on my smartphone (a Brazilian account) and it remains set to show results for the country in my account settings with no problems - the issue only manifests itself on the laptop web browser…and I have deleted and reloaded the Brave browser, with no change.

I sent this issue to Brave Support in the first week of April. I had a couple of emails, very early on, advising me that assistance might not be forthcoming in days…but it is almost four months with no further contact from Brave Support. I first raised this on Brave Community some weeks ago…but, again, apart from one response seeking clarification on an issue, no assistance. I would be hugely grateful if anyone is able to furnish help or knows how to actually get that help from Brave.

Thanks for your time. Much appreciated.

I am using MacOs 15.5 (24F74) and " Brave is up to date Brave 1.80.115 (Official Build) (arm64)".

To clarify, you’re referring to when you use the region filter on searh.brave.com, right? Then, when you set the region to somewhere else, the search goes through but shows that it’s displaying results for Brazil with the option to Revert to global?

If so I see this too and I’m not sure why this is the case – the region, when changed, should be remembered for the next search. So for me for example, if I go and perform a search and set the region to Argentina for example, I see the following:

Even though I’ve set the region to Argentina it defaults to showing results for the US. However, if I then click Revert to global, it now shows results based on the region:

Is this the behavior you’re describing as well?

Hi,

Thanks for checking out my post.

Yes, quite so. I set it for the UK but it always reverts to Brazil, where I currently am, even from search to search. It will not accept my setting the pref to where I want it even though my Brave account search setting is set for UK. As I mention, this does not happen on my Brazilian account smartphone. In the Brave browser on the phone it adheres to my setting pref as UK.

Don’t know if anyone has a solution (as I say, cannot even get a response, of any kind, from Brave support - which has been my experience with every issue I have sent in to Support since joining Brave) but would be grateful for one.

Fingers crossed for us both.

If you click on the Revert to global option, do the results then come from the correct region?

Selection global from the dropdown list will bring up global results to that specific search…but as soon as you close Brave, the next search will revert to Brazil. Clicking on revert to global, when it is offered, still shows the results from Brazil as primary results.

Hi All,

This issue has now been resolved…I cancelled my previous direction to the browser to delete cookies “on exit” and now find that preferred search region remains in place.

Grateful to anyone who took the time to read and ponder.

Hi,

I have been playing with all sorts of settings and, upon cancelling my previous instruction to the browser to delete cookies “on exit” I find that my preferred search region remains in place each time I open the browser and search. Appears to be problem fixed; fingers crossed. Many thanks for your time and thought in regard to the issue.

Thank you for reporting and confirming.
I’ll be passing this information onto the devs for consideration in future implementations.
