How to remove the VPN button in Brave Browser through command line for win and mac

Please provide us with the following information

Hello,

I am testing this feature for mac and windows devices. So, I managed to deploy to couple of machines however, unable to disable/remove it from mac or windows devices (from Brave Browser). This is important for us as it should not be available for all the users.

Please advise any command line or profile/policy to disable/remove the vpn option from Brave.

Thank you.

@Mattches I believe this is up your alley.

Realistically, you’re going to need Brave add it to the list of Brave-specific Group Policies.

While it’s possible to manage Brave via Group Policy, these policies are pretty much just a duplicate of Chrome Group Policies. Although Microsoft do the same, in contrast when Microsoft add features to Edge that are not part of Chromium, they usually also add their own Group Policy settings to manage these. However, while Brave have started to do this, at the moment there are only a six Brave-specific Group Policies available, which currently makes it a bit limited for managing Brave for multiple users. Removing the VPN feature is not one of the six policies currently available, but may come at a later date I guess.

@PDC is mostly correct here — will have to reach out and ask about the specific entries that need to be changed. Additionally, we will be adding a feature soon to simply hide the button that appears in the toolbar from view.
