I am using Brave (Version 1.15.76 Chromium: 86.0.4240.111 (Official Build) (x86_64) on macOS Catalina (10.15).
I accidentally added an incorrect spelled word to my dictionary and I’m unable to find how I can remove it.
I did see a couple of other similar posts, but they were automatically closed due to no response.
Does anyone know how I can manage my dictionary words in Brave?
Seems this is not possible within the UI. I found this GitHub post which explains how to do it manually: https://gist.github.com/mikegrima/ae56dc1ad09f8f90ae2b3d109a718ad9
Hello @londonappdev
go to brave://settings/editDictionary
and remove the words that you do not like
hope that help and have a nice day
Thanks for the response.
I tried that but it just takes me to the settings root. I also tried chrome://settings/editDictionary
and it did the same thing.
go to brave://settings/languages
then choose Customize spell check
or
- click the hamburger menu (three dots in the upper right)
- pick settings
- scroll to the bottom and click advanced
- scroll to the language section
- pick spell check, it should drop down more options
- pick custom spelling, your list of oops words should be here.
- click the x on the right of any word you want removed
but in this link it say the option is not
one of the comment say how to edit the file that contains the dictinary
hope that help and have a nice day
Thanks for your time… In my interface the Spellcheck setting is a toggle (not a dropdown)…
I must have a different version or OS?
Either way, I managed to remove the word manually by editing the text file.
Thank you!
you welcome
yep i am on linux what why i sent you the link
glad to know that you figured it out and have a nice day
