How to add local file to new tab page bookmarks?

How to add local file to new tab page bookmarks? Trying to type in “file:///C:/files/index.html” in “URL”, and nothing happens when i click on the bookmark, but right click - “open in new tab” are works

Using a Mac . . .

  1. Opened a new Brave Browser window.
  2. Dragged the icon for a text file I have on the Mac’s Desktop
  3. over to the URL address field of Brave Browser window
  4. Tapped the Enter/Return key on my keyboard
  5. Brave Browser opened and displayed the contents of the text file
  6. I used the Brave Browser “Bookmark this tab” command from the “Bookmarks” menu at the top of the screen, in order to create a new bookmark
  7. Closed the Brave Browser window
  8. Opened a new Brave Browser window
  9. Selected in the Bookmarks, the new bookmark for the text file
  10. It worked.
