I’m currently using my Mint Linux computer with Brave v1.63.169. I would like to import all of my data from Edge into Brave, but I can’t see how to do so.
In Settings, there is an import selection, but that only allows me to import an HTML file.
When I first installed Brave I was given the option to import everything from Edge, but I cannot find that tool again. Browsing to brave://welcome does not give me the option to import anything.
I also use Brave on my Windows 11 computer, and would like to switch on my Android phone, but if I can’t import my data then I won’t be able to switch.
What are you trying to import/export. Each are done different places. For bookmarks, you go to bookmarks and import, which HTML. This is found at your Bookmarks Manager at brave://bookmarks/
For passwords, you have to go to your password manager settings, which is brave://password-manager/settings
That option did not appear when I went to brave://welcome
I just tried it again on my Windows machine and I do have that option, so I’ve imported from there and have enabled sync, so I should get the same data available on my Linux machine.
I’m guessing that Brave doesn’t detect Edge in Linux for some reason, so doesn’t offer me the choice of importing.
I’m going to tag in @Mattches on that so he get can get eyes on it. That should work the same way. So if there is a difference, might be something to figure out.
That said, how did you install on your Linux, @Calab? I mean, did you do a Flatpak, Arch, Manjaro, Snap, or what? All the different methods listed at https://brave.com/linux/ Part of what I’m curious of is whether you grabbed from an official or unofficial package?
To be honest, I don’t remember if it was through the Software manger or if I downloaded the installer from the web page. I will take a look once I boot back onto the Linux machine.
Okay, and not sure if you saw but that’s an unofficial. If you’d be comfortable grabbing from official route, might be interesting to see if that resolves for you. At least might help know if issue is due to package or if it’s just something in the Linux version.

I uninstalled the flatpak, and installed as per the Brave website. During the install I was offered to import from Firefox, but no mention of Edge at all.
I have Edge v122.0.2365.80 installed.
FYI, reinstalling deleted my Brave profile. Is there an easy way to get it back?
I may have so interesting Information to this mentioned Issue of @Calab:
Situation on my side
I installed Brave via the official repository for Fedora 39 Workstation Edition. Which has no issues so far, but when I type in the URL of brave://welcome and skip the first menu entry Set Brave as default browser, I also have only the option to import from Firefox which even is not installed on my system.
Test wise, I installed chrome, chromium, brave and edge on another Fedora 39 Workstation Edition system via official fedora repository or their own provided repository respectively. On chrome/chromium you can start the importing via URL chrome://settings/importData. The same goes for the edge browser, but instead you need to use edge://. The selection in the drop-down menu is either Firefox or HTML file for all three browser iterations.
For the new installed brave the selection in the brave://welcome screen looks different. I have the choice of all installed browsers which are in this case firefox, chrome and chromium and the edge browser.
Notice: The edge browser is the only one which you can export passwort in a csv file. I need to say I dont know how this works in other browsers, not even in brave because I use KeepassXC as my password manager. But I thought it may be important.
