Description of the issue: Google Play Store: Brave App Version Number: Why did it go from Version 1.6.0 Updated on 2019/12/04 Wednesday to Version 1.5.3 Updated on 2020/01/22 Wednesday instead of version number > 1.6.0?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Execute the Google Play Store app on you Android smartphone.
  2. Find the Brave app.
  3. Press the What’s New’s arrow.
  4. Find the App info section on the bottom of the page. That section shows Version 1.5.3 Updated on Jan 22, 2020.

Expected result: Version # greater than 1.6.0 because on 2019/12/13 Friday I updated Brave to version 1.6.0 updated on 2019/12/04 Wednesday.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Mobile Device details: Smartphone using Android version 6.0.1 and Google Play Store version 18.5.59-all updated on 2020/01/23 Thursday.

The version changed to match desktop versioning.

@eljuno, if what you wrote is true, then why does my Brave desktop version number, Version 1.2.43 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit), on my Windows 10 laptop not match the Google Play Store’s Brave android version number, Version 1.5.3 Updated on Jan 22, 2020?

The Google Play Store’s Brave Android version number, Version 1.5.6 last updated on 2020/02/21 Friday, still does not match Brave Desktop version number, Version 1.3.118 Chromium: 80.0.3987.116 (Official Build) (64-bit), on my Windows 10 laptop, and the Google Play Store’s Brave Android version number, Version 1.5.6 last updated on 2020/02/21 Friday, still is less than my Android smartphone’s Brave Version 1.6.0 last updated on 2019/12/04 Wednesday. I will not upgrade my smartphone’s Brave until the Google Play Store’s Brave Android version is greater than 1.6.0.

You should update, the 1.6.0 version was during the beta version and now it not beta anymore, that is why the version is different. Thanks

Because it’s no longer available @ brave.com/latest , here’s a Release note for 1.5.3 https://github.com/brave/browser-android-tabs/releases/tag/v1.5.3
