Freeze while watching Twitch

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

Problem is intermittent and can’t be reproduced reliably. But it happens when watching Twitch.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.75.180 Chromium: 133.0.6943.126

Additional Information:

Browser completely freezes, UI of browser is not responsive. Have to kill the process.

Installed browser extensions that could affect Twitch: FrankerFaceZ, TamperMonkey (running TwitchAdSolutions script), uBlock Origin, uMatrix, Audio Compressor (not active)

But I don’t see how these could freeze the browser’s UI.

TEST: Disable Graphics Acceleration (aka hardware acceleration)

Re Extensions

TEST: individually - not in any combinations (yet)

You might find “the culprit”.

If you do not find “the culprit”, then test combinations of only 2 extensions . . . etc.

Otherwise, in a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • brave://settings/content/all

Search for Twitch and delete its site settings.

You might also:

Go to brave://settings/clearBrowserData Advanced tab

Time range: All time

ENABLE (u-pick-em):

  • Browsing history
  • Download hsitory
  • Cookies and other site data
  • Cached images and files

And Clear data

Exit / Quit BB. Start BB. Test.

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN
