I updated everything today, new Brave version, still the same issue. Dark mode isnt sticky.

Just adding a plus one here. I’m having this exact same issue.

System Info:
Operating System: Linux Mint 21
Kernel: Linux 5.19.0-43-generic
Brave Browser 114.1.52.122

No solution yet… Maybe we don’t have enough replies to make the develop team aware.
I’ll keep posting whenever a new update that doesn’t fix the problem comes out.

I’m using Version 1.52.122 Chromium: 114.0.5735.110 (Official Build) (64-bit).

@t3chn0k stuff takes time. If you or anyone here thinks it’s incredibly fast and easy to fix issues, you have a lot to learn. Other thing to remember is they are all working on other projects as well. So things get prioritized. This isn’t a high priority item compared to things that cause the browser to crash or that might cause security/privacy issues.

That said, we had shared the Github link for people to track the progress on it, which is https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/30766

If you’d look, you’d see one of the devs assigned themselves to this today and moved it from On Deck to In Progress. Meaning they are working on it as of today.

Hello @Saoiray, I appreciate your answer.

I am well aware of the time it takes to develop anything and I understand the issue of priorities. Still, this bug is quite annoying. I’m glad the team is fixing it.

Thank you.

sweet…
let’s hope they’ve got this issue sorted by the next release

@heysoundude @t3chn0k @digitalextremist @dkop @GuyIncognito and everyone else, dev posted on Github asking for help on testing as they can’t replicate the issue. I did copy/paste of their message below. Do install package appropriate for you and advise of results. Best if you can post on the Github but can post here if not wanting to create an account there or whatever.

Build resolves issue and I let Simon know.

Can anyone confirm the build works who is not using Linux Mint 21.1?
And can someone using Linux Mint 21.1 double-validate my confirmation?

I am using Linux Mint 21.0 (Not 21.1) and after installing the nightly you just posted, dark theme behaves as expected for me. Nice job! My compliments to the dev team.

Just pop up your terminal and type this…

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-dark

Mirrored that to the GitHub issue tracker:

Thanks! I applaud all your effort on this @digitalextremist

The above nightly build 1.54.61 fixed it for me.

Relayed that over as well, and @Leo44 – so curious how that amdgpu driver is behaving for you. Off-topic, but it seems bewitched to me! Kernel panics, leaving the system in a fugue state for inexpiable amounts of time, turning on and off displays… reminds me of the 1990s.

I’m loving my Ryzen 5 4600G. I’m not a hardcore gamer, but I do some video editing with Shotcut. Shotcut detects the graphics portion of my Ryzen and uses it as if it were a discrete GPU. So much faster rendering times compared to CPU alone rendering. It will play some of the less GPU intensive video games on Steam.

Oh man. Shotcut is a great tip. Thank you. Been suffering through a different video editor. Will check that out! Alright, well I have some fresh hope then. I think my Ryzen 9 6900HX is just too raw in support still. But I can tell it is a race horse. I will be patient and stay the course! Thanks for the tip and renewed faith in my own hardware.

This was resolved in merged PR https://github.com/brave/brave-core/pull/18922

I run Arch Linux, and having the exact same issue. Haven’t tried downgrading to the earlier version of Brave just yet. If the Issue isn’t resolved after some time, will end up giving that a shot. At first, thought maybe it was the cyberpunk extension that caused it but that’s not the problem. Definitely an update. It’s not the end of the world (Yet), but is a little irritating

Hi Saoiray. That fix worked and I’ve already reported this to @simonhong on GitHub.
Thank you for letting me know.
