I noticed that while downloading item, Brave doesn’t show the full url/source of the item which is downloading from. It just shows the website name. I don’t like this as I sometimes want to copy or view the actual source from where the file is downloading from for security and privacy.
What makes you remove to display the source of the downloading file to the user? Was it too heavy to break Brave Browser?
@SpaceY0,
This looks like the default behavior for most Chromium browsers. Firefox seems to be the only browser I can find atm that allows you to link directly to the download page.
@Mattches Thanks for the reply, so You mean I can’t view the full source url of the item which is currently downloading in any chromium based browser? No, that’s not the case, I can still see or copy the full path of the downloading item in chromium browser, Because I just checked it on Opera.
Also can you provide the link of that chromium commit which states that Current Downloading item’s source won’t be showed to user and only the domain?
I just mean that it does not appear to be the default for Chromium based browsers. However, upon further inspection, you can see the full URL by hovering over/highlight/copying the link title of the download:
Yes, I know I can copy the full url but It only works when the download is completed but I want to copy and change params of the url and then cancel download. I am not saying it’s your fault but what’s the point of copying the url after the download is completed.
I think I have to build an extension to work this around. I hope extension will be able to capture the link id/css in brave://downloads page
