Changing application Icon on Mac

I’d like to change my application icon in the mac, because I want to change the colour to a custom one that matches my use of the browser and organising needs in the dock.

I usually do this for mac applications by doing the right click > get info > dragging the image to the application icon in the info window.

While the other applications retain the new icon, every time I restart my mac, the Brave application resets to have the default icon, whereas all other applications retain their customised icons.

Is there a way to permanently change the application icon for Brave browser in mac? Thanks!

(using Ventura 13.2 (22D49) on M1 pro mac)

Thanks!

Hello there @SqueegeePasture , could you please provide me with the Brave version you are using on your Mac in order to investigate further?

@SqueegeePasture thanks for your reply. try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue. You’ll find this in brave://settings/system > Use hardware acceleration when available > toggle off > relaunch Brave.

I tried this, didn’h work, it still changes back to the default icon. Thanks for the suggestion though

@SqueegeePasture does the icon you set persist if you change it on a different chromium based browser? (Chrome, Edge, etc.)

If it does, please let me know.

@Kevin_cc Yes - I tested it on Chrome and it retains the different icon, but brave does not.

@SqueegeePasture please try installing the Beta or Nightly version of Brave to see if the issue persists on those versions.
