Certain YouTube videos don't produce any audio

Description of the issue:
Audio doesn’t work ON CERTAIN VIDEOS.
Even with uninstalled/reinstalled Brave, and doesn0’t work even with uninstalled, deleted all Brave directors and reinstalled Brave.
I tried RESET TO DEFAULT button as well but on RELEASE it never stops running and on BETA doesn’t help…

I am on win10 64bit.
Audio runs well on all other browsers.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aA-Qm5mUkk and try to listen

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:

Reproduces how often:
at least 5 times

Brave Version(about:brave):
a) Latest ( Feb 13th 2019) RELEASE and
b) Latest BETA: Version 0.60.23 Chromium: 72.0.3626.96 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

Reproducible on current live release (yes/no):

The video seems to play just fine for me both audio and visually. This is likely an issue on your end rather than in Brave. Can you check and see if the same video plays with sound when using a different browser?

As I mentioned in the post, the video runs well in other browsers

Apologies, I missed that in your initial post.
How often do you find this happening? Just a few videos or as frequent as “every other video?”

You might try disabling Hardware Acceleration to see if that helps the issue.

Settings --> Advanced --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

As for the amount of videos… there are only a few where audio doesn’t work. Even from the same guy! For example… this one works perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcuQ-G4NO0g
and yet… the other one I posted above… still doesn’t.
I had this problem half a year ago in Brave as well and it became so annoying I switched back to Firefox. I believe it’s a problem with something specific on my computer but… the damn thing works in other browsers… I simply don’t get it.

Solved a problem it seems!!! But it’s a strange one!
While my sound worked without a problem on all other browsers using the same settings on Windows, and while the sound worked on aprox 90% of all things in Brave, I have now found out I have another widows option in the settings.
Default (the one I had set up over the years) is called “Speakers (SB Audigy)”, but there is another called " Digital Audio Interface (DB Audigy)".
After I switched to this one… all the videos (for now) have sound on all browsers, even on Brave.

Now both work!
I think we call this thread ‘solved’ in practical terms, although … the mystery regarding the differences between these 2 videos remains…

Apologies for the late response. I’m glad you got it worked out! There’s defintiely still some unsolved parts to this mystery but for now I’m glad you can enjoy your YT videos privately in Brave :slight_smile:
I will mark this solved and make a note about the audio issues experienced here for future reference. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention!
