Been using the beta builds of Brave for a while now, but one thing I’ve never been able to get working is the Chromecast feature… if I choose “Cast…” from the main menu, it says “Looking for devices” then always winds up at “No devices found”. Anyone know what can be causing this? If I launch Chrome on the same machine, it easily finds my two NVIDIA Shield’s on the network every time
@Mawthra, we have an open issue for this right now:
That said, casting is possible, but has proven to be unpredictable at times. Quoting myself in the thread linked above:
In order to enable (or attempt to) Chromecast, you must set both the following flags (
brave://flags
):
#load-media-router-component-extension
- Set toEnabled
#Views-cast-dialog
- Set toDisabled
. I apologize for my above comments about enabling this. I believe this may be the case for some users (that they have to enable this) but for others it may have the opposite effect - I just encountered this myself on my machine. I for sure know that leaving this atDefault
will not allow you to cast.
Please let me know if this works for you or if any of the above is unclear.

@Mattches Ah… now the Shield’s are showing up after setting those flags! Thank you!

My pleasure!
Out of curiosity, what Operating System are you using?
I’ve tried Windows 10 Pro and macOS… both latest versions… could never get it to work on either before setting those flags
Perfect! Glad to hear its working as intended!
