Bring back F5 for refresh

It looks like at one time there was no F5 in Brave. And then there was. And then it went away again. Please bring it back. I’ve been using F5 since I can’t even remember when, and I started out in 1996.

The only other browser without F5 is Safari. Surely, Brave is better than Safari!

@julesg F5 is still works on my end (Win10).
Can you elaborate more? What happens when you hit F5?

Brave version, OS, example site/s, etc will be really helpful.

Sure, sorry I didn’t before.

Nothing at all happens with I hit F5. At least nothing that I can see or hear.

I could override CMD-R with F5 for Brave.app in my system preferences. But this should be the norm. As [delete] should go back one page by default. They are standards hot key nerds are used to.

Thank you for listening and considering.

cc @Mattches for additional assistance.

@julesg,
Thank you for reaching out to us. I noticed you mention,

Testing on my macOS, I see that Delete does move back one page in Firefox, but does not on Chrome or Safari. I believe cmd/ctrl+r is used just as frequently. You may also be able to find extensions that will allow hotkey customization.

F5

I searched the extension store for “F5”. There is no extension for using that hotkey. But two extensions having to do with reloading show up. This hints that F5 is universally known as the refresh key.

F5 works in Windows file explorer, too.

Custom Hotkeys: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/custom%20hotkeys
These inject JS into pages in order to work. Yuck.

I created a Shortcut in System Preferences for F5 in Brave. It works. For giggles I did the same for Mail.

[delete]

I tried to create a Shortcut in System Preferences for [delete] in Brave. It doesn’t allow that key.

@julesg,
Further testing shows that F5 does work on Windows OS – strange that it also doesn’t work on macOS. Delete may be reserved for some reason, will have to look into this.

A few people have been asking about keyboard shortcuts today – I’ll try and get some documentation for reference on this soon.
