Brave shows two instances in Notification Center of MacOS Monterey 12.5.1

Description of the issue:
When I installed Brave Nightly version, two notifications show up asking for permission to show future notifications. On System Preferences → Notifications & Focus, Brave shows two instances and there is no way of deleting one of them. This is on a 16" M1 Pro Macbook Pro.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Download and Install Brave Nightly version
  2. In the process of installation, two notifications, one on top of the other, pop-up on top right of screen asking for permission to show future notifications.
  3. Navigating to Notifications & Focus tab of System Preferences shows two instances as image below.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:
There should only be one Brave instance in notification

Reproduces how often:
I’ve tried this on another Intel Mac with 12.5 and it does the same thing.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
MacOS Monterey 12.5.1
Brave Nightly 1.44.60

Additional Information:
I have Brave sync on so I don’t know if the two instances are because of the syncing of two Brave browsers on different Macs.

@nucfuse,
Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed report. This is actually the intended behavior and you can see this with other browsers as well. There are two entries, one for each different notification type.

Here are some other users asking about the same thing for Chrome/Chromium:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=757026#:~:text=Correct%2C%20because%20we%20display%20different,and%20the%20other%20for%20alerts

Ok, thanks. I guess those guys at google don’t care about efficient code when they’re working with literal quantum computers.
