Brave reader lacking Siri voices selection for spoken content

Hello,

I have recently installed Brave on my MacOs and noticed that when using the reader.. the option to select the voice is not showing the Siri voices that are used on my spoken content settings on my Mac.

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open a website and check whether the reader is available
    2.Click on the reader and on the headset icon
    3.Check the voices - There are no Siri voices to select.

Expected result:
Have the option to select Siri voices as per spoken content in the system settings.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (arm64)

You’re right – checking on my end, these Siri voices are not listed. I don’t think this is a Brave issue, however. My guess would be that only Apple specific products can use these voices – when I check Firefox and Edge on macOS, nether of them offer the Siri option either.

ah, thanks @Mattches for the quick reply. Big bummer the selection of voice that you have in the reader are quite horrible and robotic.. other than that it works just fine. Is there anything that can be done or is all Apple to have to make them available for other browsers ?

I believe this would be up to Apple.

I see. Are there any plans or workaround where we can use different voices from these listed in the menu ? Or any plans for the future to adopt some more human languages, given brave is also using Leo AI ?

Not to my knowledge. While I’m sure this is something other users want as well I wouldn’t imagine seeing this given particularly high priority. I would recommend posting in our Brave Feature Requests section or on our Github page.
