Brave randomly reloads tabs 2x for total of 4 tabs of same link

Description of the issue:
When I open a link in a new tab, first issue is sometimes the link opens up twice in two new tabs.
I have brave rewards turned off. Second issue is that while on that tab reading it, sometime randomly later (maybe about 1 minute or 2) , two new tabs open up with the same page, thus making it 4 tabs of the same page. I have just updated to the latest version this morning so issue is happening. It is very annoying compiled with the freezing issue currently happening, I wish I can go back to a stable reliable version than the buggy new releases.

How can this issue be reproduced?

1. open link in new tab, wait for one or two new tabs to load
2. browse new tab(s)
3. wait for random 2 new tabs to open again of same page

Expected result:
no tabs open up unless i specifically do it myself

How do you open the link in a new tab?
Do you right click > open in new tab

Or do you hold ctrl and click on a link?

What version of windows are you on?

yes I am right clicking and opening link in new tab option
I’m also using windows 7 home edition service pack1

@desslok, unfortunately windows 7 is no longer supported. But you can try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue?
You’ll find this in Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration
You could also try doing a fresh installation.
