Brave prevents all downloads

**Any time I attempt to download ANY file while using brave, the file does not download. It is so consistent that I assume it must be a basic setting I am unaware of in brave. **

**This affects all websties. **

The issue seems to occur even with shields down for various sites.

**All other features of site functions seem to work fine with shields down. It is as iff downloading anything is specificially turned off. **

I am unaware if I have a specific shield configuration preventing this. I did attempt to browser through the settings but saw nothing specifically about preventing everyday file downloads:

Yes it works on chrome. For example. going to academia.edu I can download a pdf of an academic paper in Chrome. When I do the same paper in Brave clicking download (on any computer I have using brave) does absolutely nothing ?

Brave version (check About Brave):

Version 1.42.95 Chromium: 104.0.5112.81 (Official Build) (arm64)

Hey there. Go to settings ->Downloads. Check your settings there.

Also would like to point out that you should update your Brave.
Settings->about brave. For PC

You can Update in the playstore/Appstore for Android and iOS

  1. You’re using an outdated version of Brave. Desktop and Android versions are on 1.43.93. iOS had update to 1.43. Try to update and see if it resolved anything

  2. What OS are you using? Troubleshooting steps can vary based on device.

  3. Do what @SmartyAadi mentioned above. Just try to toggle with Download settings within Brave. Even choosing a different download destination might work or just making it ask where to save each time you download being toggled on.

  4. Assuming you’re on Desktop, do you have any extensions? If so, try to open in a Private window and see if it works. If so, you may need to disable or completely remove some of your extensions.

  5. Just to be clear, are you saying you click on a download link and it doesn’t go anywhere or do anything? Or what exactly happens? (any error messages, prompts, or anything like that?
