Brave on Android is S-l-o-w slow

Some weeks ago I noticed Brave was getting very slow, taking a minute or more to load some websites, sometimes timing out. After a couple of days I realised it might be Brave (not my WiFi or phone) and so cleared the cache and history, but it didn’t help. I tried Opera and Chrome to see if it really is a browser issue and both run really quickly. I uninstalled Brave and installed Brave Beta but have exactly the same issue. It’s just impossibly slow.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Be me.
  2. Try to load YouTube.com

Actual Result:
Loading takes more than a minute to completly load the page.

Expected result:
Loading time should be less than 5s (time on Opera and Chrome are 2-3s).

Reproduces how often:
Every time.

Operating System and Brave Version:
Brave 1.20.108, Chromium 88.0.4324.182
Operating system: Android 11
