Brave firewall Permissions

I reinstalled Bitdefender and the firewall asked me to permit (whiteout) Brave.exe and braveupdate.exe.
If i block them then the browser will not work, but are both of those .exe safe to allow through my firewall. What am i permitting precisely? Would allowing them through my firewall not make the browser vulnerable to various attacks? Apologies, I’m not tech savvy, I would like clarity on the matter, thank you
