Bookmark selection is inconsistent

My config: Brave 1.77.101 with Chrome 135.0.7049.115, Windows 10 Home x64 22H2

When I’m looking at the Bookmarks Manager, and drill down through the bookmark folders (requiring to double-click to open a folder instead of single-click) to see the site links (in a separate window than the tree list for folders), I cannot single-click on a bookmark to get it to open in a new tab. Instead I have to double-click the bookmark to open it. In both Firefox and Edge, only a single-click on a bookmark is needed to open it. Why would a double-click be needed instead of a single-click to open a bookmark folder or a bookmark? Yet a single-click works when viewing bookmarks in the Sidebar. Mousing is inconsistent in Brave.

In both Firefox and Edge, I can middle-click on a bookmark folder to open all bookmarks within that folder. Instead, in Brave, I have to right-click on a bookmark folder to get a context menu from which I can choose to “Open all” bookmarks in the folder. In the Bookmarks Manager and Sidebar, middle-click does the same as left-click; i.e., Brave has equivalenced middle-click to left-click to merely select instead of open. Right-click, left-click, and middle-click should always perform different functions.

I found most of what I want in bookmark selection with the following add-on:

Minimal Bookmarks Tree

That provides an easy and fast toolbar button to show a bookmarks tree (no drilling into menus), leave the folder focused that was last opened, single-click to open a bookmark (no double-clicking), and middle-click on a folder opens all bookmarks within the folder (no right-clicking to get context menu to then select to open all bookmarks in a folder).

I really don’t want to resort to add-ons, but they are needed until the devs get around to improving bookmarks ease-of-use.
