Automatic redirect. Hijacker perhaps?

  • UPDATE in reply below

It’s not constant/consistent but it happens relatively frequently to the point of being annoying. Going to some page on a site, it shows for a fraction of a second, then it does an automatic redirect to the home page of the site, the root of the domain, removing the specific page URL that was previously pasted and briefly loaded.

It just happened again and I saved the URL. I pasted this URL from the clipboard, not clicked on a link on another page:

The page loaded, I saw the content for half a second and it went to the home page:

I repasted the URL and then it stayed on the page, did not redirect again. So I can’t duplicate it.

There is nothing special about this URL, it’s been happening to me for days if not weeks. I just happened to be able to pause for a minute and post this. I noticed no pattern yet.

I don’t know if it’s some setting I made or perhaps one of my 23 extensions. I will gladly share the list of them or any settings, if anyone cares to see it. Or can offer any potential spots to look at. Any ideas.

Update. There seems to be some sort of redirect hijacker, so I imagine one of my many extensions is causing this.

It doesn’t stay up long enough to copy the text but I captured a video which this frame is from:

But even it was some ad hijacker, it would display the ad, not just go to the home page of the intended target domain.
