Adding my wallet took over my unverified wallet, lost 70+bat

Description of the issue:

I had 70+bat in my unverified wallet. I noticed there was a link to verify my wallet, which was previously unavailable. I clicked to verify my wallet, and it asked me if I already have an Uphold wallet. I clicked that I already have one, logged into it and my 70+ bat disappeared. Now I only see the amount I had in my wallet from Uphold before I connected my account to my mobile phone app.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. acquire some BAT in an unverified wallet
  2. Click the “verify” button (but do NOT click to create a new wallet/account with Uphold)
  3. Click that you already have an Uphold wallet and log into it.
  4. Notice the money you had before verifying is gone.

Expected result:

If you ask me if I already have a wallet, I expect that the money I have will go into the wallet I already have. I do not expect that my money will dissapear without warning and that my previously established wallet takes over my mobile without those BAT being added to it.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Currently it is Brave 1.12.113, Chromium 84.0.4147.125
Not sure what it was when it actually happened 2-3 weeks ago.

Android 10, Pixel 2 XL Build/QQ3A.200805.001

  • Copy/paste your Wallet ID (found on brave://rewards-internals)
  • Your OS and Brave version (first three lines in brave://version)
  • A screenshot of your Rewards panel in Settings --> Brave Rewards.

@steeven - Why didn’t you tell me that? I knew something wasn’t right. I think they are asking me to reverify my wallet so they can steal it. Not fair.

Just checking in on this. Still no 70 BAT payment. I have 3 Brave browsers installed.

  1. Phone
  2. Desktop
  3. Laptop

Currently, each wallet shows the actual BAT balance “12.340” except for my cell phone which shows “82.340” which is the actual Uphold wallet balance + 70 BAT which came from @steeven regarding my issue. It just seems like something is wrong… like that 70 BAT isn’t really there.

If it’s ever going to get paid out, shouldn’t the 70 BAT be in “Estimated pending rewards” or something in order to ever get actually deposited to the Uphold wallet?

Would love to be finished with this issue and the 70 BAT be out of limbo and in my wallet (not just showing up as if it is in my wallet on my phone when it’s not)



I am certainly not an expert here, but I would like to share my opinion here.
As I notice after sync of my Brave desktop and Android browser only the browser data (Bookmarks, passwords, History, etc) was synced and not the Brave reward data. That’s where the problem arises they currently do not support wallet sync.
So the best thing to overcome this problem was to create two different Uphold wallet for each device and withdraw the BAT into the respective uphold accounts and then transfer the it into one if you like.
I hope they solve this issue of yours and many other users (like me too) asap as users should not loose their very owned reward that brave promised to deliver securely.

@steeven Same issue with me too, yesterday I verified my android phone browser wallet, the BAT there were disappeared and it is now showing uphold actual balance.
I was having more than 50+ BAT in total with 3 system, laptop, desktop and lastly android phone.
But the fund in android phone disappeared yesterday after verifying my wallet with uphold.
