Why is my task manager saying that Brave has 100+ tasks? Brave didn’t need this many. It’s making my computer run hot. And It doesn’t matter how many tabs one has open, it multiplies from window and tab too. And again, it doesn’t matter how many tabs or windows are open. So why is it going up to the 100s?
It never did this in previous versions. So I don’t know why it’s doing it now.
I hope it will change in the next update.
No one’s said anything about this.
How many tabs do you have open? Every tab is its own process.
But why? As I said, it wasn’t doing this in previous versions. And again, it does not matter how many tabs I have open.
The latest update is still adding more tasks. I had a BSOD because it ran so hot.
It’s not a million tabs. It’s not a thousand tabs. It’s probably is as some call it a “me problem”. But I could have sworn it didn’t do this in previous versions.
I just wish it didn’t add so many tasks and processes cause a hot running.
I don’t know at this point. I’m at a loss.
Can you try enabling Memory Saver to see if there’s an improvement? It frees up memory from inactive tabs and can be found here: brave://settings/system
@Darkhai all Chromium based browsers have each browser process open separately. That’s all extensions, tabs, etc. For example, can see what mine has open right now with hardly anything open.
And that is shown on OS as 12 open processes:
This is expected and not a bug. They do it this way because otherwise if any small issue happened, it would cause everything to crash and be lost. By having everything run separately it means if a tab or other process crashes, the browser can potentially keep working and you won’t lose any data.
Having these processes open wouldn’t be enough to cause your computer to run hot. Instead it would mean that you have something in an open tab or elsewhere on your computer that is working your CPU hard. I don’t know if you have graphics acceleration enabled? If you have checked your drivers? There’s a lot of places to look.
But just to reiterate, it doesn’t matter if you have only 1 tab or process running or you have 100, that alone won’t cause any issues.
Worth noting that it also depends on what specific tabs you have open. Each tab/site has it’s own process and each process will take up a certain amount of resources. It could be that one or more tabs you have open are taking up a significant amount of resources.
I have memory saver active.
I just set it to maximum. It was on balanced.
