This happens when you turn off “Close window when closing last tab”.
It’s the same in Beta and Nightly.
Oh, I see, @sakusaku. That is interesting. And I am able to replicate at that point.
@_tanoshi and @ShoeSandwich can you give that a test then. Go to Settings
→ System
and make sure the toggle for Close window when closing last tab is enabled? It should then go away.
Confirm issue resolves when “Close last tab” is toggled.
Yes, there is no problem when I activate it. I hope this problem will be solved with the new update.
Confirmed - enabling the settings for “close window when closing last tab” resolves the issue.
Good troubleshooting folks — I’ve pinged some of the team internally to ensure they’ve seen the updated information.
I’ve found out that Brave is actually creating a brand new tab/window when you take it out and once you merge it into a new window, it doesn’t delete that “temporary window” created.
If you get the white box and end the task via Task Manager and reopen Brave, click on Restore Windows and you will see that you have as many new tabs that you never opened as white boxes that appeared on your screen.
I have confirmed that the white window does not appear in Nightly v1.72.60.
However, the long-standing “Close window when closing last tab” bug has not been fixed.
I want to continue working on solving the problem.
