Chrome has a QOL feature where if you visit a website often enough, it will allow you to input part of the URL into the omnibox, whereupon pressing enter would navigate to the site.
Brave does not have this function yet, but before site search was “fixed” to only allow URLs with the %s
query, you could manually add commonly-used sites like so:
In this example, typing “/r/eve” then enter would automatically navigate to that subreddit’s website, rather than having to manually type out the website from the beginning.
Why not just use bookmarks?
Because, like vim (vim user btw), moving your hand back and forth between the keyboard and mouse is somewhat tedious and breaks flow. Plus, site search worked just fine before this, at least as far as I could tell. Why not revert the change so that both functionalities are still there, or better yet, add a “speed dial” option that does it too?
