Region not supported message (HK)

Briefly describe your issue:
For past few months, ever since I accidentally deleted Brave browser integration on Uphold & tried to re-link it, it’s been erroring out saying region not supported.

What Operating System and Brave version are you using (Menu --> About Brave)?
Version 1.45.118 Chromium: 107.0.5304.91 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Is your browser wallet currently verified? (yes/no)

What date did you verify your wallet?
Initially: 05/10/2022, 08:48:01 AM wallet_verified uphold/9660d
Currently cannot verify.

Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past?

Are you using a VPN? (yes/no)
Sometimes, but usually no. Only used US, Canada, HK.

Are you in a supported region (see here for list of supported regions)?

Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)?

Have you fully completed Uphold’s CDD requirements?

Uphold account profile:

  • Verified on 04/19/2021
  • address in HK
  • now shows Brave browser linked in integrations – couldn’t get it to re-show after manual disconnect

Brave rewards internals:

  • Key info seed: Valid
  • Rewards state: Not connected
  • error log lots of publisher info not found / failed to fetch issuers

Umm. I am not sure what’s happening here. It could be because you’re using a VPN. Brave highly discourages using one, especially if you are enrolled in to rewards. VPNs cause conflicts and could result into getting your rewards profile flagged.
Did you do your Uphold verification using documents from other region than Hong Kong ?
If so, and that region is not listed here, then you will get the specified error.

Hi, no I definitely used my HK documents to verify with Upload,

I’m not on VPN when trying to link (U.S. IP). I tried linking with HK (vpn) IP - didn’t work. I’ve contacted Uphold before they said everything’s good on their end, and to contact Brave instead.


KYC was done with HK docs, right ?
Cause Address is pretty easy fake…

Yes, it’s been a while so I don’t remember which, but I definitely either used my HKSAR passport or HKID card.

Okay. If that’s the case, I will suggest raising a ticket here.
