Brave used to throw up a dialog box when I clicked a downloadable link. It doesn’t do this anymore. Recently I accidentally clicked a link and it began downloading a giant file without confirmation. This is not only annoying but seems like a giant security hole. Please add it back.
Do you have the Ask where to save files option enabled in Settings --> Downloads?
It is on but it only does this if you have an SD card (as it states in the setting itself).
Hey, I am pretty aware that some files are being downloaded anyways, but I need not overwrite my already downloaded ones, plus, why fill up my storage because of accidental clicks?! It is huge frustration, because I accidentally marked “don’t ask again” and now I cannot revert it. That’s on mobile, but I’m using brave on my desktops as well and I think if you want to keep the image of a privacy conscious browser, this should be fixed! If it is some kind of a google to allow it only on sd cards, this must be communicated at least. But, the fact that it’s been working as expected and just a toggle made it irreversible makes me wonder whether there are tracking benefits to the “big tech” and if they don’t listen we’ll have to shout more and if not heard, we’ll have to search for other options.
