Not enough memory and then crash

I’ve had to uninstall Brave  It’s been working great since I got this new computer at the end of last year. I kept getting error messages about not enough memory, then it’d crash and grind my computer to a halt.

I only ever have a few tabs open at once. I’m just doing simple things like using Google Drive. I only have a few extensions. This has happened gradually more and more over the past couple of weeks and now it’s just stopped letting me even open one tab.

I’m on Windows 11. Chrome and Edge work fine and very fast so I know it’s something to do with Brave.

Sorry I’m not computer savvy, but here are my system details below. I’ve read other posts on a similar topic, which has prompted me to reinstall and send crash details to developers, but just doing that brought my computer to a standstill again.

When I open Task Manager, there are 20+ Brave things in there. Is that normal? Even when I shut Brave, there are still 6 or so lurking in there and I have to manually end each task in order to uninstall Brave.

If anyone has any ideas, I’d be really grateful.

Welcome @Internazionale :grinning:

i’m also using brave with win11 (AMD Ryzen 5 4500U with a Total Physical Memory of 7.42 GB)
I have 8 opened Tabs in Brave Browser + multiple other apps (mail, telegram, openoffice, aso).
My usage of RAM is 77%, yours is about 92.125%.
Seems like something is “eating” your RAM

Hi

  1. Open brave://settings/system and disable 1) Continue running… and 2) Use hardware…

  2. Open brave://settings/clearBrowserData and clear browsing history

  3. Disable extensions.

  4. Restart PC

If not working, install a memory optimiser such as Wise Memory Optimiser (freeware) and set it to auto optimise RAM.
